Meet the new-age Seeta : Melanie Kannokada
Former Miss India America, Melanie Kannokada, will be seen playing the title role in the upcoming indie feature film Love, Lies & Seeta.
Melanie plays the character of Seeta in her upcoming romantic comedy produced and directed by Chandra Pemmaraju. This Indo-American independent film is about falling for a girl who doesn't believe in love, interweaving friendships that cross-traditional borders of ethnicity.
Shot in 50 different locations in New York, the movie has also garnered appreciation at the Indian International Film Festival, 2012 in Florida. The movie is set to release in India on 18th May, 2012
She is also amongst the first Indian-American girls to be chosen as the face of Bare Essentials ‘Be A Force of Beauty’ campaign. Melanie has also modelled for a range of national and international campaigns for brands such as NesCafe, Herbal Essences, Crocs, LG, DSW, Glamour Magazine, and Verizon
Melanie has previously been seen in a number of international sitcoms such as ‘Rules of Engagement’, ‘The Nine Lives of Chole King’ and ‘Parenthood’
Melanie is trained in Shotokan Karate and has also competed on international levels along with being an engineering student and Fine Art performer
Amongst her various achievements, Melanie is also a co-founder of ‘Hospital for Hope,’ a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the construction of hospitals in extremely under-served areas of India
